I tried this last night at tea time and it was so tasty...I know hard to believe as kebabs are usually only tasty after a night out :)
Cooked in the slow cooker, so the fat drains leaving a very healthy meal, served with pitta, salad and sauce.
We got 4 full pittas and still have some meat left all for approx £3

I have shamelessly copied the recipe, it's even better than the late night ones ! Here it is and really, it's amazingly good ! I didn't bother with the tin foil........

Mix 500g Lean lamb mince with 1 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp dried italian herb mix (I just used normal mixed herbs), 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper.

Mix thoroughly and shape into a meat loaf shape. Success is all in the mixing so either use a blender or get your hands stuck in and make it lovely and smooth. Whack it a few times and take your anger out on it to get rid of any air pockets too. This will avoid a dry, crumbly disaster!!Pop straight in slow cooker for 3-4 hours high or 5-7 house on low. Slice thinly and serve.

Tastes EXACTLY like chip shop donor kebab :-)

*First time you cook it, keep an eye on timings. Each slow cooker differs and seems it goes from perfect to spoilt very quickly. If in doubt, go for the lower cooking times first or wrap in foil. If using less than 500g of mince, also remember to adjust cooking times.Mine was done for 3.5 hours high and was perfect. Beef, chicken, pork etc won't work for those asking, it just wouldn't be a doner kebab

would other meats not work because of the taste or because they wouldn't stick together? I loathe lamb.

If no slow cooker,I guess wrap in foil and do in the oven?

woofgang...im sure other people have tried other meats , i'm not sure how authentic they tasted though but certainly worth a try as you'd have a nice meatloaf !

Mamya...yes, I believe it's an hour in the oven. I'd be careful with wrapping fully in foil, there's a fair bit of fat and moisture comes out and that's the beauty of it, maybe just cover so it didn't burn?

I make homemade kebabs using bratwurst, woofy.
I have a meat slicer and slice them thinly, they don't fall apart like our sausages.
