I try hard to support my children as they raise my grandchildren. I hope that they will be people I can relate to when they grow up. We are moving back to UK for many reasons, one of the plusses arising from this decision is that we shall see more of them and hopefully enlarge their sense of family and belonging in a time-line and common heritage.
My friend has been a really fantastic grand-parent. Practically reared them, spoilt them, paid for them to travel - just everything.
Today 4 or 5 years down the line 3 (twins of 13 and 18 year old) of them don't speak to her because of their parents. She is so despondent and depressed.
I don't believe in this tho - if they (children) never make you laugh - they will never make you cry.
