lots of it about - saw a couple today.
not eradicated but there is a vaccine that pet rabbits can be given by the vet
Many rabbits have developed a natural immunity but it's still about. I have a fairly heavy walking stick and if I saw any when I was out with Max and I could get close enough I'd put the poor things out of their misery. It's not a nice disease.
Still waves of it coming through from time to time.
Still about, it tends to run in 7 year cycles in different areas. They are easily spotted, they dont move around very much and they sit all hunched up, and yes, when you get up close their eyes are in a dreadful state and usually quite thin.
Just 2 weeks ago I took 2 baby rabbits to the vet. On discussing their needs, myxamatosis was mentioned and according to the vets, domestic rabbits still need their jabs for this disease if they're to spend any time outdoors as foxes may enter your garden and can carry it. So no, I don't believe it's been eradicated.
I'ts in the rabbit population on our land right now. Numbers have decreased very rapidly.
