As I write I have a kitty howling by the back door demanding Campbell cat's attention. As she is 10 years old and neutered at 6 months, why do the male cats find her so irresistible (this is not the first tom cat she's had to fend off)?

Not just yours ( kitty ), our 8 year old neutered she cat Daisy has a boyfriend that comes a calling for her. I have named him Dave.

Normally she tells them where to get off, but this one is even more persistent than normal. There seems to be 2 toms who have just appeared, who seem to be playing kitty turf war. Unfortunately, Robbie, my little boy cat got caught in the cross-fire last week and was badly bitten and bashed, meaning a trip to the vets. He's not at all fond of the new tom
Animal magnetism?

At least you know that if any tom did manage to have his wicked way with her, you wouldn't have the unwanted kittens to deal with. If more pet owners would do the responsible thing and gets pets neutered, our rescue centres wouldn't be so stretched.
You are not alone. Our 3 year old neutered girl 'Pickle' had a doppleganger (but male) calling for her at the back door each night and trying to get through the cat flap (now magnetic). It only stopped when we got the dog and the scent seems to have scared him off.
Sorry to hear that your boy cat got hurt and hope he recovers soon xx

Robbie is now o.k, he's just quite a nervous cat and was a rather shaken by the experience.
My boy cat was great mates with my neighbours boy cat. It was really sweet because it looked like they greeted each other with a kiss.
Don't know a Dave, Tony.
I think it is the time of the year....

Oh Yes!!!
Mmmmm, thought you might have, Daisy.
Question Author
Kitty has now changed tactics and is staring through the front window
I'd let it in.
Have you ever seen the episode of red dwarf' where 'the Cat' says
'Time to make myself look Big!'?
You could try that and see if it scares him off?
Known as Dai.
Question Author
Passer-bys have now scared him off (front garden is only about 3 feet). Campbell cat is now sitting on windowsill wondering when he's coming back...
He'll be back, campbellking.

Ohhh, a Welsh one, Daisy.
Question Author
I'm sure he will be. Must go now, need to go and let Norman cat (my friend's cat) in and put her chickens to bed .
