The headline is a bit misleading. They've pictured some of their favourite 'discovered' species over the last 20 years. The Goliath Spider has been known about for some time.

I remember watching a docu whereby someone let one walk across his face in the wild. They're not aggressive creatures unless provoked. TBH I wouldnt want to be on the same continent as one...

That was the most magnificent spider I've ever seen. I did have a pet tarantula but she was nothing like as big as that. Thank you.

I also had a chillian rose tarantula, such boring pets! they sometimes dont move a leg for hours and hours, even days!
I have a fear of spiders but im ok with tarantulas, they are in a different league somehow.

They don't scuttle under the sofa .....thats one advantage... still this one wouldn't fit under the sofa.... and would probably help itself to a steak from the fridge
