squirrels and cats

My cat has just been up a tree after a squirrel. Went straight out to make sure he didn't get him but the squirrel was asleep on the branch (6.30pm). The cat was making a beeline for the squirrel tried to wake the squirrel gently to get out of the way - it took a lot before he moved. Do you think the squirrel was OK.

My cat chases squirrels, on the number of occasions I have witnessed the event the score so far is:-
Squirrels 11 Cat 0
Squirrel probably knew he'd win, in a straight fight!
I would'nt give you decent odds on the cat to win, perhaps 150 to 1
