I am not sure that is true, overall we are not that nice to animals.

In the UK alone we humans kill millions of chickens every week for food.

However I do agree that it is very sad when people do have some sort of pet or other animal that they dont look after it, or are even cruel to it.

And there is a relative of mine who goes out shooting birds. How anyone could get pleasure from killing any sort of wild bird is beyond me and I think people who enjoy it must be mentally ill.
I saw some photos the other day where a dog was found alive and cowering under a car. The poor dog had all legs cut of at the ankle with an axe.

It is really difficult to believe why people do such dreadful things to any living creature.
I love animals very much, but I am not a vegetarian. I understand that some people think that non-human animals are lesser beings than humans, but I feel that we are the care takers of the planet and its animals life.

For any 'human' to do something so cruel as the dog mentioned by ratter is a being who has no respect for life. I think that such people should be prevented from bringing any offspring into this planet and should be locked up for a long time to ensure the safety of others.
This is the dog on the road to recovery, the pictures I saw on the original news clip are just to horrific to post!

I was feeling bad feeding Frankie fatty bits of honey roast ham instead of the nice pink bits.

Why would anyone ever consider doing something like that to a defenceless dog? People feel that saying that such a person is "mentally ill" explains it all. But I have suffered from Bipolar disorder for some years and have never met a person that could do such a thing. And I have met some odd people.

Bah!

Im not veggie thats a whoooole other thread....

That poor horse! God i feel bad if i want to stretch my legs out in my own bed and if my dogs in the way i just lie there awkward and cramped!!!!!!

Horrific.....!!!! I havent looked at the link yet ratter lol.....

Just as i typed ive had a green squeaky bone dropped on my lap...its playtime!!!!!!
OMG how could that poor dog walk now with just four stumps - how will it cope .....

tinkerbell - what was the programme you were watching? I can only watch these sort of programmes if these horrid cases have happy endings. Sometimes I despair of my race.
In my view that dog should have been immediately euthanized, it had suffered enough, what was there to gain by fixing him up, I dont suppose he was ever going to live a happy life and even if it did the suffering would never have been worth it.
I agree with you Ratter - like I said earlier how could it walk on stumps .... Such a beautiful, beautiful dog too. The human mind just keeps thinking up more and more forms of torture to inflict on defenceless animals.
When someone comments that their dog is "almost human" Never has such a greater injustice been spoken!!!
Agree - it's an insult.
O don't Ratter, I've done enough crying today what with this poor dog and PC Rathband - now that lovely picture. Just hugged my dog a little tighter. xx
