Barking dog

Could anyone tell me the best way to stop my 2yr old Yorkie from constantly barking. She barks at nothing and everything, all the time, which then in turn starts my other Yorkie who is almost 14yrs barking and she is too old for this.

have you had her hearing checked? Is she well behaved in other respects?

Put a fabric anti-barking muzzle on her for 10 minutes. She'll soon associate barking with the muzzle. After a few times she'll stop as soon as she sees your pick it up, that is the time to praise and make a fuss of her.

She would not understand why you would shout and be upset when in her mind she warms you of things she (may) hear or let you know that she's keen to stay a member of the household pack.

I think its a good idea to find out why she is barking before using gadgets to stop it, especially as you should NEVER leave a muzzled dog unsupervised.
