How can a sty be treated on the eye lid of a dog?

hi there, my dog recently had a sty and i thought it was going to cost me a lot of money in vet bills, but i was wrong. all he was given was a course of eye ointment and the sty was gone in no time. obviously depending on your vets prices it shouldnt be to expensive, with consultation fee and the ointment my bill was just over �30!
