My girl was spayed on wednesday, I need to go out today to go to work and pop to the shop. Can i leave her in her kennel (5ft covered run and bedroom) with the cone of shame on?

Shes not doing so well with the cone so im not sure but i have to go to work shes ok otherwise eating, drinking and causing mischief :) (try telling an akita they have to stay calm and cant have a boxing match with her other half lol)

I wouldn’t ever go out and leave a dog in a cone of shame, its dangerous. What had you planned to do when you planned the spay?
I agree with woofgang. Is there someone who could come in and dog sit for you whilst you are at work? Otherwise, can you actually take the day off?
don't know much about dogs..but I wouldn't leave one in such a state !

thanks guys, i will go later this evening to clean (thats my job) and get hubby to grab the shopping.

My husbands shifts changed this weekend, he would have been here to mind her whilst i went out but now they changed its me.

ah well i will crack on with cleaning here and go out when he gets home thanks guys :)

I hope she continues to recover well, Firewatch. When can the cone come off? What did the vet say?
We put a short legged baby grow on our boston terrier when she was done. She was petrified at the cone, so tried the baby grow poppers up the tummy job done.

lol frilly pancake i would love to be able to put a baby grow on boo but shes 36 kilo destruction machine.
Friday Tilly2 but we are leaving it off when we are with her so she does not get to stressed out ,with it on she cannot see where she is going and her ears cant work properly.
The next challenge will be weight gain, she should be around 39/40 kgs for her height and bone structure so is on the lower end of where her weight should be :/
The best laid plans......I am glad you have been able to get it sorted.
A human sized onesie then??????? Lol.......am just picturing it now :-))))))

Question Author
3 bab would have spayed her sooner but as my names not on her paperwork i didnt have a say :(
Has she already had puppies?
We used toddler onesies when our dogs were done - just cut the legs and arms off - just cheap ones from B&M etc - worked wonders.
Boys are simpler. Robbie was adopted at 5 years old and apart from spending a couple of days looking for his balls he was fine. Hutch was about six months and didn't seem to notice that something was missing.

No, she came with a breeding agreement (was my brother in laws dogs, he had no time for her/relationship breakdown so she came to us) she was meant to have at least one litter, but we couldnt afford the £1000 health tests and stud fees, so two years down the line i find a lump about 2 weeks ago vet advised spaying after giving us the you should of spayed sooner lecture (he did it with the best intention) , so here we are! :( my poor girl :(
