I have been cutting and pasting by highlighting the text and then ctrl+c and ctrl+v. I now find that this results in my being sent to Cruft's website ! What's going wrong ? The computer seems to take "c" as an invitation to go to the last site beginning with C in its memory; either that or the Kennel Club has taken it over.

Is there some other method?

Just right click Fred after you've highlighted.
just right click on highlighted text and select "search Google for......."
Actually Ctrl+C is COPY and Paste not Cut and Paste.

Cut is Ctrl+X.

Cut will remove the original text, copy will copy it.

Sorry to be pedantic.
Sounds odd Fred - has someone else being using your computer?

Hmm. Tried it in IE, instead of Chrome. Pressing ctrl, fine, but when I add the C at the same time, IE takes me to Christies, the auctioneers, instead of Cruft's! I don't even get to ctrl +V, just as happened with Chrome. Bit of a mystery
Highlight>right click>copy>right click> paste.

WR.

Thanks, ron, I'll try that.
you should be able to find copy and paste under View at the top of your screen (Firefox, can't remember the IE equivalent). You sure you aren't accidentally hitting shift c?
Question Author
Yes, jno, I have avoided 'shift'. Wise to ask; I hit most of the other keys and then puzzle for a helpless while :)
