What is the oldest age of a dog.

I was walking my dog the other day and a lady came along with her dog. Some kind of terrier I believe and she told the dog to behave and that it was too old to play. Mine little one was 12yrs in Feb . Her dog was 19yrs old and by the looks of it still had a lot of life left it in.

There was a lurcher (near my mother) who was 19 when he died. Lovely old boy........

My border terrier was 16 when he passed over. Smaller dogs do tend to live longer so they say so hopefully your little bundle has years to go yet.

I have a Lancashire Heeler who was sixteen last September, and she still goes for a walk everyday with the others - she was still being shown last October. Her mum was almost sixteen when I lost her and her dad was nineteen, grandad seventeen. Another of mine is almost fifteen and I lost one in September who was fifteen. We do breed rescue and often have dogs in for rehoming at ten or eleven, and people don't believe us when we say they could easily have another five or more years left.

My last shih-tzu died just before she was 11 but she had a heart defect.

We have a little Shih-Tzu who is 11 1/2 and still jumps around playing like a puppy! Great little character!!

We met a 17 yr old Shih-Tzu on the beach one day and he was a bit stiff in the joints, but still going for his walkies.

My daughters springer died a few months back and was 18yrs plus a few months - gorgeous dog could almost talk to you.

Well done on your border silliemillie. Sixteen is a good age. My longest lived one was 13.

Lost two this year both 18 and both large dogs, one quite suddenly and one I had to have put to sleep, both very sad:(
