How do I stop local cat from coming in our house?

We have a cat flap and two cats. We cant have the one that works with the magnetoc collars as our cats keep losing their collars. But this one cat keeps on coming in and eating their food, etc. I even fell asleep on sofa one evening, woke up and the wretched cat was asleep next to me on tha sofa!
Ive tried shooing it away, but nothing seems to deter it. Any ideas??

get the sort that reads microchips and get your kitties chipped if they are not already
Agree with Rowan that is the only way - as the cat now feels welcome - well would'nt you with free food and somewhere warm to sleep!!

not sure they read the cats chip like a security scanner as you leave a shop
Worth every penny.

Thanks for that CF, and others. Think I may have to do that, just need to get the cats micro chipped then!
Well you should really be chipping them anyway so it isn't an additional expense. Boxy would never have got Rover back without him being chipped.

I know, dont know why I havent had it done before. Promise it is top of my list. Did make me jump though to wake up and find this big furry black and white cat curled up next to me!
I know what you mean Smow, I met one coming up my stairs one evening as I was coming down them. And the cheeky thing just walked straight passed me without even blinking. That was when I got my first cat flap.
check round all your local vets and council - they maybe doing free micro chipping
Our daughter swears by hers.

We rely on a Border Terrier
Bet they only come the once seadogg:-)
Hmmmm.....is it possible the moggy is trying to adopt you??

;-))
sounds very much like he wants to move in with you.... I'd check out who he belongs to has he been dumped... if so I think you will be a three cat household

Well I used to shoo it away, but now I feel a bit sorry for it. Problem is that one of my cats seems a bit scared of it. Both mine are female, dont know what the other cat is.
