Walking style of 4 legged animals ?

Animals with 4 legs usually walk the same way, ie, only one foot off the ground at any time. look at Puss Puss here, most odd. On his right side his front and back legs are in unison.

Hi Boxy, it is, Both left and right feet are both moving in sequence, funny he never fell over when both were off the ground. XXX

I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. It does look a little bit odd though.
These two do opposite legs, left together then right together - I'll have to have a look at mine!

That's what I mean Boxy. A normal cat at any given time has the front leg touching the back leg on the same side. Puss used to walk as if both front and back were connected, much like wheels on a train. XXX

I had honestly forgotten that I had done this before. A post about cats earlier brought this to mind.

A good job we have some users who keep comprehensive records of what happened ages ago, lol.

It's called a parallel or pacing walk. It's normal in giraffes, camels, and bears, but can be occasionally seen with most other four-legged animals Supposedly it reduces the energy needed in covering long distances.
