I don't hate them, but they do give me the creeps. Like you though, I'll always capture them and release them into the garden.
Have you noticed that there seems to be a huge increase in spider population this year?

6-8 inches !? I take it you don't live in europe.
I like spiders, they're interesting and I welcome them in my room because they eat my clothes moths - nothing beats a natural organic pesticide ! |
I dont mind spiders, generally they work alone and they clear up any crawlies around the house

always welcome at my place

6 - 8" - Oh my God - I would have fainted - I hate spiders.

Well I live in the middle of the countryside too and we have huge spiders in our old beamed house, but not that size! And now it's running round the garden, oh dear!!

6 to 8 inches,Thats a big one.
I have had lots of dragon flies and moths the past Month. |
lol that has to be an over estimation on the size! house spiders are pretty big but 6-8 inches??!
I don't like them but I won't kill them - I've always thought their spider family will seek me out if I did. I hope my neighbours like them, because as I get one in a glass I run out the side door and empty the contents over the wall!

cazz my wife threw a can of my deodarant at it going by that i made it that size when it was next to it ,extra large gangly legs the mother of all spiders lol
Blimey, I knew you had included the legs as well. If it was just an 8" body it would probably be a 2ft. spider!
I have never seen a spider with an 8" span and I don't want to either!! |
at that size then you should catch it and phone up the rspca, it does not sound like a british house spider.
It could have been worse.... http://news.nationalg...-tarantula-video.html
If that size was in centimeters it would be about right for the biggest native spider. Anything 6 inches across has to be a tarantula. My problem with them is trying NOT to suck them up with the vacuum cleaner.

If in garden they dont bother me, but in my territory I hate them
If they stay in the garden they're safe from me but...................venture into my home and they're dead.
