You have dustmen on a Sunday?
Isn't that what it is designed for? - recycling?

The maggots are just getting the process underway.

Sorry they're put out on Sunday for Monday!!
Bin Men don't like collecting maggots and the bin is stinking the area out
Wrap it all in newspaper and chuck it in your refuse bin, then wash out the food waste bin & start again!
we had this problem, in the end I poured water down the sides to get the blighters down so they went with the collection, then washed the bin out & never put any fly attracting stuff in there again or wrapped it very well in newspaper first.

NEVER put meat in it then you shouldn't get that problem.
Sorry I was muddling your bin with the compost bin. If you put meat or fish in make sure it's well wrapped. You'l get maggots if the flies can get at it.
Surely the maggots are all part of the recycling process aren't they? They are perfectly natural. If you don't like the look of them or the smell, then move the bin further away and clean it out once it's empty. If you don't like the sight and smell martymod, then don't bother with recycling.
