rehashing clothing

i am a fashion student and i have to write an essay on rehashing garments.rehashing is when you take an old piece of clothing and then make it trendy again.its supposed to help stop the landfills being dumped with old, unwanted clothing. does anyone know of any good articles or websites where i can get some information from.

The girls comic Jackie (popular in the 60s, 70s and 80s) was very good on publishing articles on rehashing garments. It's probably hard to get your hands on copies of the original comics now but if you know a woman who would have been in her teens in the 70s you never know - she may have an annual or two hanging around! In the last couple of years a couple of 'best of Jackie' annuals have been published, you may see one of these in a bookshop and have a sneak look at it!

25 years ago, in the very early goth days, I used to be able to get loads of stuff dirt cheap in charity shops like hideous old 1970's pinafore dresses but which had long full skirts or original 50's and 60's stuff with great fabrics, lace etc.
A pair of scissors, a vat of dye and a couple of old diamante brooches later - hey presto new original outfit to go clubbing in!
