What to do with thousands of used padded bags and record mailers (part 2)

(Part 2)

I have tried calling all sorts of organisations to see if they can offer me any solution, or suggest some body who would be pleased to have them to re-use - schools, museums, mail order companies, etc., but so far, there have been no takers.

If anybody out there can suggest a sensible way of getting these things out of my space and back into the cycle of resources, I'd be very grateful to hear your ideas.

I don't have transport - apart from a bicycle - so unless you are local to me, in south-west London, it probably wouldn't be worth coming a long distance in a car, with all the carbon footprint that might leave, to collect them. But they will all be stuffed into large bin bags, and if you want to collect, then please let me know.

Many thanks.

south west London is a large area. Can you be more precise.

No problem, grasscarp - I'm in Balham, SW12.
Can you give me a solution?
Not immediately as I am in St Petersburg this week! I may be interested next week if nobody else wants them first. I will watch this space as these are expensive to buy new, and perfectly re-usable.
Freecycle them - an eBayer will want them for sure

Ethel's suggestion is a good one. It may be an idea to offer in lots of maybe 30 items. That way a lot of people can benefit. (Ebayers and Amazon sellers always need them)

Hey, that's a VERY long way to come! And it must be pretty blinkin' chilly there right now, too!

Anyway, thanks for your interest, and I expect they'll still be here for a while yet. Of course, you would have to re-label them all, and some of the labels would have to be pretty large, with some of the gigantic scrawl people plaster all over them! So that's an extra expense - although naturally nowhere near as much as buying them afresh every time.

And also...

Yes, thanks also to Emily - that is indeed a pretty worthwhile idea, and having just given a cursory glance at this site, there is a Freecycle branch right here in this very borough. I'll definitely give it a try.

Now I'm going to have to go home and vacuum all the dust off the things!!
I am here on business Andi, and surprisingly it is not very cold. It is grey and keeps raining off and on. Not knowing anyone am keeping amused with Answerbank in the hotel lobby! Best of luck with freecycle. My daughter is a freecycle moderator.
