You will need to check for small gaps on your skirting boards that are situated near the air vents on your outer wall. I had slugs coming in a few years ago and thats where they were coming from. Go oustide and look for your air vents.

We used to have the odd slug in our old house. If either myself or Mr Spudqueen got up in the night (eg to use the toilet) we would make a point of going downstairs, and usually caught the slug in action (!!!) crawling across the carpet. The slug would be removed and we wouldn't have a problem for a couple of months until another one found it's way in - we never did find out where though!

Slugs are masters of the art of living under stones where they lay their eggs & raise their family protected from predators & drying out - this means paving stones, slabs of concrete, rockery, etc. They may be coming in through a gap in an ill fitting door from under a patio right outside? They may be living in your walls temporarily. If you don't want to use slug pellets inside the house try sprinkling the pellets thinly right against the house walls & all over your patio. It will take some time to reduce the population significantly but put down more each month until your patio does not look like a slug graveyard each morning. Then a couple of months in between 'servings' until finally just in the spring or on signs of activity. When I moved into a huse that had a neglected paved yard I did this & got rid of a huge number of slugs.

Door gaps are favourite - even if you are sure your doors are a good fit, get them checked. The little blighters will get through the smallest crack - have a joiner have a look, or if you want to D.I.Y., get some insulation tape and cover your door jambs are door edges.

I had this problem in my kitchen! All over the floor they were, someone told me to leave a bowl of beer out so I thought ide give it a go, was amazed the next morning to see it full up with dead slugs...also disgusted lol, so I continued with my bowl of beer every night until I think I killed them all off...never had em back since!
