Windfarms, for or against?

I wondered what peoples opinions are, on the benefits or not of wind farms.

I hate them where they have sited them. They are not as efficient as is claimed apparently - it's just a nod towards the targets of "clean" energy. I can see two separate wind-farms from my house and quite frankly they ruin the landscape. When we were in Holland on holiday, they site their windmills in industrial areas and on the docks etc where they aren't so...

thats no wind towers, its from supporting the Green Bay Packers.
I'm not convinced that they work efficiently enough to generate enough electricity for regular use. We need reliable sources atm the turbines are only good with the back-up of generators. I have walked through a batch of turbines, the noise is eerie, whup whup all the time (at least when the wind blows) The British Horse Society are against these monstrosities because they spook the horses.
Google it, Dr.s just recently are finding a link to wind turbines and sudden on set high blood pressure. Absolutely correct about me hating them, If something kept you awake or woke you up several times a week I imagine you'd hate it too.

I believe they are a sop to the green brigade, their hearts are in the right place, no question, but someone is making an awful lot of money out of this and no one knows, as pointed out, the impact on people in the longer term
Against definitely - they are an eyesore !!
Undecided. In a row along highways they don't look too bad, as long as they keep a reasonable distance from the houses.

Unfortunately, the best position on land for them is on the top of hills where they catch updraughts even in calm weather, but that are usually the most beautiful spots in the country.

I still feel that huge manmade estuaries where hydro power can be harvested is one good answer in assisting the eceltricity grid. The huge saltwater 'lakes' can be used for swimming and family camping etc. 9" grids will prevent the sharks from coming in the bays and still allow sea fishing in safety. Free tidal power twice a day, no eyesore, safe swimming.
