Last I heard you *can* stop in a box junction but only if your exit is clear.

Yes you are correct - but where I live that is translated to 'park in' until your exit is clear. This means that traffic comes to a standstill.

what i wanted to know was when your driving there are yellow triangles ,or white diamonds or squares on the road ,what are they for , you all must have seen them and have you not wondered !!!!

I think I know what you mean now but round here we've got them on the road signs.

They're markers for drivers giving directions to industrial estates mainly aimed at lorry drivers who, instead of trying to read all the signs looking for directions they just check for the symbols follow them.
