Adding a name to property title deeds

Does anybody know how to go about getting a name added to the title deeds on a property. My partners house is in his name only however I am now living there as well and pay half of everything. Last year he had some financial problems & I paid all his debts to clear them. He has suggested we add my name to the deeds. The house is mortgaged in his name only - do we need to change this as well. What details would we need to supply if we were to go ahead. I have all the usual proofs of ID etc bank accounts, passport, driving licence etc, however my partner does not drive or have a passport (which I think he would need as ID - is there anything else he can use) He has bank accounts, household bills etc. Also what costs are likely to be involved.

minks, this is not something you should risk getting even slightly wrong.

Find a good, local (ie not too expensive) solicitor and get him to handle it for you.

Could be cheaper in the long run....

Fairly simple process so you could use a conveyancing agency rather than a solicitor. you can get advice from the Land Registry (with whom it has to be registered) here:
