Just heard an advert on the local radio to 'Get a new staircase fitted ' for Christmas!
Any more candidates for the most inappropriate Christmas purchase ?

New carpets......they'll only get trodden on and mucked up.
I have never bought a staircase. Never even thought about it, never mind in time for Christmas
Do you live in a bungalow, hc?

Is that a real ad Chris? It deserves a BA if it is.
I suppose it won't make things any worse, considering how much time he spends in chimneys

(The ad from my first link is, indeed, real, Eddie)
Good point, Chris ;-)

A new staircase is a bit of a flight of fancy though.

^^I'm no fan of funeral directors (or monumental masons.) But I can't help but think they miss a trick when it comes to advertising. Why don't they do a buy one get one free on funerals?. You know the kind of thing, buy a full burial now and get a free cremation within the next 12 months!
A close friend of mine had to organise her Dads funeral, the quote was £3500 so she went to the next funeral director and asked them to beat the quote!
They were astounded , no one had done it before.
Any way she just kept on round the 3 funeral directors in town asking them to beat the last quote and in the end got it for £900
Keep Santa clean. Get a new chimney for Christmas.
My Mother in law died at the start of a Bank Holiday weekend and as there had to be an post mortem there was a lot of time to arrange the funeral so my husband rang around to get quotes and the places were astounded.
On the subject of adverts I cannot understand why people pay to have their cookers super-cleaned for Christmas, they need cleaning after Christmas, the hammering they get.
You're meant to clean cookers then, Zebo?

That's news to me!

;-)
