I was visiting a friend yesterday and he was listening to the proms via his tv, I asked him what the significance of the screen saver was and he had no idea. It consisted of ever changing tiles of various shapes and sizes, each tile seemed to be an advert for a film or dvd, some had "deal of the week" on them, others "be the first to own this" the rest had nothing. There was no clue as to where they might be bought, anyone any idea what it was all about

The first thing to do would be to look at his PC's preference at the name of the screen saver.

By the sound of it it'll be a free one pushing some company's deal of the week. If he doesn't know where he got it, it could even be malware that's installed itself.
It was on the tv, not pc, OG
Oh right, never heard of one of those. But it must be a TV with some computer type settings though.
You need to know the radio station or tv channel his tv was tuned in to.
