I had 'em yesterday - up and down my street - all staring intently at their phones.

Some on foot (OK), some on bicycles (not clever), some in cars (mental, when even the driver has his phone in front of his eyes).

However ... it wasn't quite as busy as this :

Dear me!
Dave , didn't you know you are not allowed to use the word "Nutters"on A/B any more ,there was a whole thread removed on the news section yesterday because the op used that naughty word, apparently it offends right wingers!
How do you know it was removed for that reason? Does the Ed offer an explanation when zapping a thread?
How do you know it was not removed for that reason!.
I don't, I didn't even see the thread. I'm just curious as to whether you were speculating or the word "nutter" is really forbidden on AB.
The OP was aggressive and rude. I don't think the word 'nutter' came into it apart from the context in which it was used.
Someone typed "sheep shaggers" the other day and I was amazed it got through the swear filter.
I have a friend with severe mental health problems, he has also not left the house in over 2 years - thanks to this he is now starting to leave the house to get into his mothers car and hunt down these critters.

So sorry to me these are the best thing since sliced bread.
???
The Pokemon craze has given Islays friend an incentive to leave the house...
How does this work? I don't understand.
People are stupid. It's that simple.
Brilliant, NoM.......great sense of humour but I'd have had to add.....those chaps who can't pull up their jeans.......x
My youngest boy has a mild form of autism, He also suffer from certain anxieties that i think stem from his condition ( one of them being is He's afraid of going out if he know there is going to be large crowds or noise so subsequently it can be quite hard at times to get him out of the house) he asked me if we could go out Pokemon hunting! so we ventured for a walk down to our local park in search of Pokemons, (he'd heard from one of his class mates that a pokemon gym was to be found there !! yep i don't know either!!)
So of we went phone in hand searching....And i was amazed! there was all sort of people doing the same things, Dads like me with there young children, teenagers, young adult, couples I could go on, but as we entered the park a group of teenagers ( I described them as goths but when i retold our trip to my wife but was informed by my lad that they were skaters! ) anyway they approached us and asked my lad if he was looking for the gym! My lad has a tick that he does when he nervous or anxious where he puts his hand up to his eyes as if to shield them! so i knew he was anxious, the kids told him where the gym was and where to find other pokemons..and to my surprise my lad said cool and thanked them...probably doesn't mean much to you guys but i had to do everything i could to stop myself from crying! We spent the next hour roaming around chatting and smiling and meeting new people...

So i personally think Pokemon go is fantastic.....But wait till i get my phone bill in and see what data charges ive received i may change my mind ;)

That's great, indefinable - I've heard other similar positive stories too.

It's the ones in cars that worry me - even if the driver isn't using his own phone, he may well react unpredictably to the input from his passengers.
Indefinable......that's a lovely and heartwarming tale....I had two walk across in front of my car last night......I waved them on but must admit I thought.......this could get bad....

Now, having read your post, I'll put more thought into who they could be... and why they're so lost in their phones.....thank you...☺
Indefinable has hit the spot - for every new fad or craze ( and my heavens we have all lived through many) there is a good side as well as a down.

I hope after the initial rush things settle and everyone takes great care when taking part.
imagine if instead of a pokemon it had been the rare golden-throated pellican warbler. People would still have come running - just twitchers rather than pokemonners.

It all sounds like fun, though I don't have any plans to join in. But not while driving, no.
Mamya....I would agree with you if I could find the good side to Clackers! Remember Clackers?......Trips from playground to hospital with cracked wrists and missing teeth!.....☺
