£5.10?

I switched cars halfway through a policy, also paid up front, and they charged me £15 admin fee.

sorry .....lol £510.00 .
ummm - Never pay their 'administration fee' - if you pause for a minute, and advise that you are going to look elsewhere, you'll find that that 'fee' can be waived in an instant, rather than them lose the policy.

I have just changed cars, and was advised of the 'fee'. The present Mrs Hughes, negotiator par excellence, rang them back and told them how disappointed she was that as long-term clients with two cars insured, they felt the need to add this punitive charge, and that she was considering taking her business elsewhere. Hey presto - some verbal guff about being a 'valued client' and the 'fee' vanished.
I didn't mind Andy as the new car (new to me) was more expensive than the previous one and the only extra I was charged was the admin fee.
I always play the loyal client with insurers ..phone/power suppliers..pays off !
just do the same as Andy Hughes which is exactly what I do.
SlackAlice - do as I do? What, moan to my wife and get her to play the tough guy because I am too soft?

She does it for me because she loves me - good luck with your request!
When I've tried that, andy, I've been charged a cancellation fee.

Just phone your insurer up and ask them, dick
So the new insurance is £50 per year more but you want money off ?
Any way it's down to the insurance company so don't ask us ask them!
