It is a mixture of three drugs - always a bad sign - if any one worked then they would just market the one drug and tell everyone how fantastic it was.

not wishing to assist the share price - market share - or even your own fees - in it there is an pain-killer ( acetaminophen or in the UK paracetamol ) - caffeine whose purpose is probably to increase tone in the blood vessels in the head ( where the head ache is )
and yes, a barbiturate in a low dose

It is available without a licence over the counter in the US ( but this is a UK site ) and I dont think it is available here. So if you were to say - oh in the UK it doesnt work then ? I would say : Yes exactly

IN the article there is a certain amount of agonising - which I share - over how and whether a barb should be available without a prescription. There is a sister preparation with aspirin wh DOES need a prescription

Barbiturates havent been used in the UK since the mid seventies. But you might say - how do Barbs work in relieving migraine ? Dont they tend to make pain worse ?

Yup very good, I would answer - Barbs are hyper-algesic ( tend to make pain worse ) and so I am surprised to see it in an over the counter preparation for - - - headache

So in answer to your question - how does fioricet work ?
I would answer - there are good reasons why it doesnt....
or shouldnt

You dont own this company do you ? or shares in it ?
I would sell ......
