I seem to have gotten rid of something I probably need on my computer as I cannot see certain things like Youtube videos and adverts. All I see is a blank space with a piece of a jigsaw in it. I kept getting a message about shockwave and plug ins that kept crashing so I got rid of some stuff that I didn't think I needed. Can you help please? Many thanks in advance. x

Operating system? Vista??? version? No idea. Internet browser? Chrome? version? no idea. yes it used to work until I got rid of stuff. Can I be more specific? no, afraid not. I'm an old woman who really doesn't know the ins and outs of technical things and I have no idea what I need and what I got rid of. Sorry I can't be more helpful and will fully understand if you can't help me without more info. x
I am always amazed that methyl asks so many questions but fails to give ANY suggestion of an answer.

The poster mentions shockwave so surely a first suggestion would be to reinstall shockwave.

Do that from here

https://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
If Youtube videos won't display properly it's usually because of a problem with Adobe Flash Player (which is what your browser uses to display the videos).

Go to 'Programs & Features' (or whatever your version of Windows calls it) and uninstall 'Adobe Flash Player Plug-in'.

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER! (I've put it in capitals because it's IMPORTANT!).

Go here:
https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

DESELECT THE OPTION TO INSTALL McAFEE SECURITY SCAN PLUS. (That's IMPORTANT too!).

Click 'Install Now' and follow the instructions.

RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AGAIN. (Possibly not required but probably best to do so anyway).

Cross your fingers and try to view a Youtube video.
