Going on from Smalltalks question 2 threads down, it reminded me of a programme that used Jean Michel Jarre's, Oxygen as a theme tune. I can't remember what the programme was though. Though it might have been World in Action but I checked that on youtube and it wasn't that.

Does anyone remember what the programme was?

Was it Equinox. It was a long-running Channel 4 popular science and documentary programme. The series ran from 1986 to 2001, originally airing on a weekly basis.

I've tried looking for Equinox on youtube but not having much luck.

I think the programme was on earlier than '86 though.
Answered variously around the web as 'Tomorrow's World' (although I don't remember it being used for that), Yorkshire Television's "Where's There's Life" (networked on Wednesdays at 7.00pm, featuring Miriam Stoppard and Rob Buckman, presenting items on science and medicine) and "Space: 1999" (but I've got me doubts about that one too).

"Where There's Life" would seem to be the most likely contender as the correct answer to your question.
Where there's life with Miriam Stoppard ??

Ok, I think I've found the tune I was after. It's Oxygen 2 and not Oxygen 4. Listen to the bit at 1.40.

Sorry, should have said that I'm still non the wiser about the show Oxygen part 2 was used for.
Soap "Brookside" used a theme sounding very much like Oxygen
Question Author
Thanks Jaydj, I was a big fan of Brookie but it wasn't the programme I was looking for.

The programme had the theme tune that is at 1.40 of the youtube link I posted at 18.16 13/9.

I've had a look at that with filters for News, Documentaries and Educational in both the 70s and 80s but it doesn't seem to be coming up with anything other than Question Time.

Good site though. Putting it on my bookmarks :o)

Will do Baths x
The programme you're looking for was called "Where There's Life" with Miriam Stoppard and the slightly over enthusiastic Rob Buckman. It used a version of Jarre's Oxygen 4 - but it's NOT the album version and is probably an 80's remix by somebody who remains obscure. It can be heard in the background of this Canadian Promo from the early 80's.
