Just turned it off, due to acute lack of interest, if they get their own way we will not have to suffer this again except on a minority interest channel
This truly is cringeworthy! I just cannot understand what message it's trying to convey nor what point it's trying to make.
The message I'm getting is that you don't have to spend a lot of money to be poor.....
Bit of a dead duck, perhaps, jeffa? A bit like your avatar.....
awe come on we had the tea cakes !
(i) they don't have the budget of the Olympics (ii) it's a greeting to Glasgow for the athletes and (iii) the kids of the Commonwealth and Unicef in raising some dosh........so I think the message is clear and they're not doing a bad job - Susan Boyle stumbled on her first line though!
Considering these are the friendly games there are not a lot of friendly comments here.
Beats me why you need an opening ceremony for a games event, certainly not one on the scale that has become the norm, but given that you are having one a certain level of quality should be expected.

Hi Shoota, I wonder the cost of the ceremony and if the cost could have been put towards Unicef fund instead?
What a load of rubbish ............ As much as I support UNICEF, just feel that the games have been hijacked, its the Commonwealth Games, not Comic Relief, Children in Need or Sport Relief. Just hope the athletics are better than this pile of poo!

Hi DTC, yes agree there is no way near the same budget as the Olympics- I just thought the content was a little cheesy and could have been simpler!
Snippets of AC/DC and Men At Work while Australia walk in. That, at least, is subtly clever :-)
Have to suffer Hazel Irvine again!! Michael Barrymore what's that all about best bit Red Arrows, will now water the plants!!
Michael Barrymore?
I missed Michael Barrymore . :)
-- answer removed --
Not Barrymore, it was John Barrowman, who left Scotland when he was about 5!!!
The Scottish part of my family are thoroughly enjoying it....

and John Barrowman was 9 when his family emigrated. Like many Scots who've moved out, he's mightily proud of his Scottish roots. I wish there was a fervour amongst the English, the way there is amongst the Scots, for the things of their homeland. It never goes away.
indeed barrowman...........and as cari said '' what was all that about '' :(
You can take the man out of Scotland but...
