Hi All
Just a quick question - has anybody any experience of APOS Therapy for knee problems ? Seen lots of adverts recently, just wondering if it's any good, or is it just a load of hype ?
TIA

An Israeli scientific study, published last year, concluded:
"The present study shows that patients with knee OA treated with AposTherapy over time demonstrate a significant reduction in pain and a significant improvement in function and quality of life. These improvements peak after eight weeks of therapy and remain stable for two years as long as treatment is maintained":

I just had a read. It looks to me (retired Occupational Therapist) as a new way of using footwear adaptations for realigning the knee and ankle joints. This is an longtime successful palliative treatment for some knee and ankle issues. It can prevent further damage, relieve pain and improve mobility, and even, in some cases, mine included, can appear to reverse existing damage. I wouldn't like to say whether this would be more effective than shoe inserts, certainly it looks more expensive. If it was me I would be looking at cheaper options first. My knee issues got sorted between a private physiotherapist, may his name be blessed, and the podiatrist who works in the same facility.

Many thanks for the replies. I have already had one knee replacement (right knee 9 years ago) and saw the orthopaedic surgeon last Monday who recommended that my left knee be replaced - to give me a matching pair he said ! Just waiting now for the date. I believe that the Apos therapy can work out to be very expensive, not something I could afford. Thanks again for the info.

If you are seeing a surgeon, then I am guessing that stuff like your gait and joint alignment will have been assessed?
