opting out of advertising

I appreciate the fact that A/B probably relies on advertising to keep going, but I am sick to the back teeth with all the ads that keep showing when I open A/B I have opted out several times but still they appear, is it at all possible to get rid once & for all or do I have to give up A/B in order to achieve this ?

I use IE 8 and was not aware there were ads they are so unintrusive. Now that Ron has pointed them out I AM aware of them!
