Racist remarks.

As a newcomer here I have to say how appalled I am to see members making crass remarks towards black people. I myself am a half caste. I was born in england.I hold down a good job and have brought my children up to respect others. It pains me to see blacks being the object of amusement as just seen in chatterbank. Live and let live. I hope the editor removes those remarks!!

I've seen remarks about every one. But if you can find any in particular then please feel free to point them out.

I'm surprised to see you using such an out-moded expression, cherrybea. Mixed-race is generally considered more acceptable these days.

I thought today was 'have a pop at a pensioner day' on Chatterbank, I hadn't noticed anything racially malicious.

Cherry, over the past 6 years on AnswerBank, I've seen nasty remarks made about ginger, fat, skinny, special needs, etc., people on here.

You're right, it's not nice at all, but you have to make allowances for the ignorant (for want of a better word) people that make them.

Being over 50 I use the term half caste if that explains why. I refer to "I dont believe it " post in the chatterbank.

I had a look at the post you refer too and I can't see any racist remarks, only a few anecdotes of embarrassing remarks made by old people. Being embarrassed by these remarks would surely mean that you don't agree with them.

There is also another thread in chatter bank titled 'White Lies' perhaps you'd like to report that also?

That's the thread I thought was having a go at pensioners!

How odd that we both saw it and reacted differently.

Maybe it's because I'm well past pension age I thought it was mocking the aged.

cherrybea all they are saying is what their elderly parents/grandparents used to say and at the risk of sounding rude you have just done the same thing
