Recent Posts List

Dear Mr Ed,

Do ya think it would be possible to have six posts displayed, rather than four, as it is now?

Thanks buddy.x

Excellent suggestion, its quiet now but CB does dominate the recent post part.

I agree totally. Whilst it is good to have a chatter forum, I have missed some more serious posts I could have contributed to. Alternatively, how about a single "unanswered question from today" link?

Ooh yes, I agree with that one :)

And how would you propose choosing that one question, chrisrob? - there will be quite a few questions each day that are not answered one way or another.

A small list of unanswered questions are displayed on the homepage.

Sorry Mrs C- I love ya and all but I fail to see how adding an extra two thingymejigs over there >>> will make a difference ot the site?

I'm assuming you feel that CB questions swallows up the list now? I happen to think that even if the list thingy was upped to summet daft like 25 it would still largely be filled with CB threads anyway.

Yup, agree with the boobmeister. Plus, I think some users use it to follow each other around the site and row so I'd actually be quite pleased to see it gone for good.

Sorry Catron, my typing. It should have read, 'a single "unanswered questions from today" list.

I have nothing against CB, I do however think that it would be a good idea to extend the recent post part.

Howdy B00 - luv ya too lass (xxx).

The reason I'd like to see six there, is 'cos I'm such a slow typist. I find that I have to revert back to the appropriate category to see what has been answered since I last looked, as it takes me sooooo long to type a reply.

You'd have to be sittin' with me at me 'puter to see what I mean, 'cos I'm rubbish at explaining it.

PS: Let's keep our love affair secret - don't want our hubbies to get wind of it.x

How do again B00.

Right, I'm gonna try and expain better. This is hyperthetical, but I hope you'll get my meaning. :o)

You and I both have a one hour session on AB. You are a faster typist, so your posts, take on average, we'll say three mins for you to type up.

I am an abominable typist, so my posts take, we'll say six mins for me to type up.

You are refeshing the recent posts every three mins. I am refreshing it every six mins. You are catching more of the latest additions 'cos you are a fast typist and you are refreshing the posts twice as many times as I am.

I am missing some of what you are seeing in the list (at busy times of course) because I am a slow typist. (And it doesn't help that I am an old windbag and waffle on and on).

My request to have six (or even more) is nothing to do with Chatterbank or any category in particular.

Flamin' nora - I'm boring meself to death here! Hope you sort of see where I am coming from? No? Oh s0d it Ed, let's scrap the Recent Posts list. lol

Question Author

Hello again Ed. Hope you're enjoying your new position.

Ed, I've had another thought about the Recent Posts list. Do ya think it would be possible to have a facility whereby you could view a short list (as it is now) or a long list (six posts or more) - depending on your own preference. Know whatta mean?

The slow typists (like me) could have it set to display a long list, and the folk that don't like a big box there, could have theirs set to 'short list'. You could click on a button on your screen (perhaps a toggle button) to display a long or short list.

I don't even know if this is possible to set up, as I know very little about computing.

What do ya think lad? Could it be done? Is it a naff idea? Is it impossible to set up? Have I lost the plot? Do I ask too many questions?

Sorry buddy. If yer too busy to reply, I'll understand.

:o)
