A blocking facility, to block abusive individuals, preventing them from replying to the posts of those who have blocked them.

I think that would be quite a good idea in a sense. If you block someone then you don't read their stuff and they can answer yours but you can't see it or something. I do think curiosity might get the better of some people though.
However as the site is fundamentally a Q&A one, I'm not sure it's appropriate.

A lovely idea in theory. However, it won't work in practice.
Let's imagine that I started being abusive to someone in Chatterbank and they clicked a button to block my posts. As soon as I realised that my posts weren't getting through, all I would have to do is to disconnect from the internet and then reconnect. (My ISP will then assign a fresh IP address to me, so that AB wouldn't recognise me when I came back to the site.). Then I simply re-register as a user. I could either choose a completely different username or, if I wanted to make it clear that the questioner couldn't get rid of me that easily , I could re-register as 'Buenchico2' or 'Bad Penny Chico'.

I don't understand why anyone would go to all that bother over someone they weren't keen on Buenchico but that's what I meant by curiosity. Some people just can't seem to help themselves.

You don't need a "button" to ignore nor a blocking facility. That's why humans (or some of us) were blessed with a brain.
