'Report this answer' facility

We have a 'report this question' facility, so why no 'report this answer'? Even if it were for use only by the person who asked the original question. I have reported one person for offensive replies, but had no reply from the AB Ed.

it sounds like a good idea to have it at least for the question owner though. even if not for all the other people... depends if the threads decend into people begging to have answers removed.

It's a pity they don't have a similar feature to what they have on YouTube where you can delete any posts you consider offensive or inappropriate. There's no waiting for some elusive AB editor respond to your request.

Basically it would mean the topic starter would be in complete control of any posts on their thread and would have the power to remove any offensive ones... How about it Answerbank?

I know who you mean lankeela, I have done the same but have not had a reply from the Ed. After a while it gets hard to ignore as I am sure we should when you see such offensive and stupid answers.

Sorry jno, I've just looked at that link and it made me laugh.

I'd get rid of the offensive stuff on here, but for people who post in jest, I'd leave their posts on ............. I've said this before, I think a bit of humour is no bad thing on a site like this. :o)

Sorry, I thought that was funny too. He asked a question and someone has posted a perfectly valid answer, therefore all should be good in the world. In reality, he prob should have just asked his mum!

I don't like to see offensive answers - but for replies that are obviously posted in humour - I can't see a problem.

Mind you, I've noticed a few on here who certainly don't have the same sense of humour as me!

I have brought this to the attention of the Ab Ed several times as it's not fair to report the question when it is one answer that is a problem. I did mention in my email to the Ed that as they cannot monitor every post they rely on the users to bring offensive posts to their attention and we cannot do this now as this facility has been taken away. The Ed said they were looking into it, this was in January!
