One of my answers was removed some time back- I don't know which or why.Is there any way I can find out?

No but chances are it was on a thread that got deleted. Your answer gets deleted along with it.

I went to my profile to check an answer I had been given to a question of mine a few days previously , only to find it had been banned. Even stranger it reappeared a few days later .
