Include Scrolling In The Word Count
Hey Ed, how about changing the rules to include scrolling in the word count to prevent idiots from messing up the threads?

Good idea, Theland, but is there a limit on the length of questions? The length of PMs is restricted, but people write some very long questions, so I'm not sure there is a limit.

Well, this IS the suggestions section, so now that the idea is out in the open, let others add their ideas, and maybe the Ed will refine them and solve the problem.

...except that all that white space you see is empty. It only takes 2 characters (carriage return/linefeed) to create a blank line, so a 100 blank line post occupies less space than this one.
It would have to be approached more along the lines of stripping out excessive cr/lf pairs.

Whiffey alludes to the fact that all that space is empty. Which is a very good metaphor for the content of the post and the mind of the poster, I think anyway.
However, in so raising such things as “issues”, are we not merely assisting the empty vessel in making the most noise?
Down with this sort of thing (careful now).

Scrolling isn't as bad as the disgusting threads on Chatterbank at times. Sort those users first!!!

Agree Neti- those should be tackled, however I'm sure you don't blame us trying to appeal to someone who equally annoys us to stop this silly childish habit. It's fallen on deaf ears though, as admitted by him last night, he does it knowing full well it annoys the majority- there's no reasoning with that kind of behaviour.

netibiza, it doesnt annoy me because its legend, i get on with him, or did, not sure he likes me much right now, lol it was never a personal thing for me despite what he might think .it has nothing to do with who does it. Its spoiling every post.
Yes the other stuff needs sorting out as well but thats another thing. its scrolling thats in discussion. If it was bigmamma doing it, id say exactly the same thing.

ya see , it IS annoying, yes there are other issues on here that need to be sorted but it is without doubt annoying! I would never advocate some of the crap i see on here, the vile and vindictive posts, slinging mud about someones personal life,i find it all disgusting but unfortunately that is something the ed needs to get onto, we are appealing to legends good nature to just ease off with this now, its every single post, not like the odd one or two.

No need to apologise Neti- we are allowed to have different opinions on stuff ya, and yeah that includes THAT man.
I'll admit I've made no secret of the fact I loath Legend, but it's because of stupid things like the scrolling malarky that has formed this opinion I have of him. When he justifies his behaviour by stating he only does it it because it annoys folk, I find it hard to find anything favourable about him.

posts like your previous one are fine legend, its the ones with huge gaps that are annoying, why cant you just do them like that one if you MUST do them at all? Come on a compromise maybe?

I think all the time we are talking about scrolling, he'll continue to do it, once it's all settled down, he may stop, but it's a macho thing!!

I was thinking that too neti, perhaps he is not big enough in the man region so tries to detract from this feeling of insuperiority by flagrantly and falsely, ‘lengthening’ his posts.
