How Do I Get An Avatar?

Requirements:

1. A user must have been a member of The AnswerBank for at least 14 days.
AND
2. A user must have over ten valid posts (questions or answers) to their name.

Getting yourself an Avatar:

1. The email address you signed up to The AnswerBank with. This can be found here: http://www.theanswerb...user/edit_profile.php - If this is not a current email address, please change it to your current one.

2. A Gravtar account, set up with the same email address as above. The email address MUST MATCH the one used on The Answerbank. Sign up to Gravatar here: http://en.gravatar.com/site/signup/

Once signed up to Gravatar with the same email address as you use on AB please visit here: http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/user/stats.php and press the "activate avatar" button on the right-hand side of your profile.

You should be good to go!

A few days back, I was thinking that an Avatar was an essential to protect one's identity from being stolen by the so called Trolls in AB. However it has been proved to me that such is not the case.

Consequently, perhaps the ED or, a genuine member of AB, will tell me the reasons for establishing an Avatar.

itsnotme, I think it's just so people will know what you look like or (more often) what you'd like to look like. But as some people change their avatars more often than they change their underwear, that sort of defeats the object. On other forums I go on an avatar is for life, not just for Christmas.

Hi Itsnotme.

AB has recently updated things. The 'box' has now become a 'button'. Click 'My Profile' at the top left of this page. There should be 3 buttons there, with the top one being 'Activate Profile'. That's the one you want.

If your avatar still doesn't appear you'll need to check that you've used the SAME email address to register with BOTH AB and Gravatar. They MUST be the same, otherwise there's no way that your presence here can be linked to your picture on Gravatar.
