Good Morning Everyone,

This is what happens on St.Patrick's day in Chicago: http://upload.wikimed...tricks_Day_08edit.jpg

And the Video is of the Parade.

Thank god we're a little more subtle about these things. Except the hats of course.

By subtle I of course mean that sensible, normal people visit a public house and drink that dark Guinness stuff until they are unwell. If you end up in a particularly fine establishment they may put on an offensive pastiche of what a leprechaun might listen to at the gym.

Of course those things aren't the worst part. The worst part is when everyone tries to do an Irish accent. There is nothing quite as horrifying as a group of rotund older men of advanced years (who should know better) doing their best "top o'er mornin' to ya".

Truly terrifying.

Does anyone have any St.Patrick's Day horror stories? What is the most garish leprechaun you have ever seen? Does your local become a box of luck charms on this auspicious occasion?

All the best

Spare Ed

P.S. For those who would like an alternative I suggest Gouden Carolus Tripel, a good book and comfy chair.

top o'er mornin' to ya....I've never heard that be said by an Irish person yet.

Excellent to hear Redhelen. Who was it who was posting about a lady hammering her shoes into a door?

That was Jackthehat Ed.....She use to live opposite from the pub I lived in and just down the road from the Irish centre. Many crazy things happened on that square :-)
