i just counted 27 seconds, so its not now a nanosecond, i have to press on the right hand corner for it to go. booo.
Odd, it only lasts a second here if that.
Only lasts a second for me too.

i just sat and counted it, if it was a nanosecond would live with that, but having to press a button for it to go off is a nuisance.

perhaps AB Editor is having a laugh with me...
I doubt that - hopefully he'll respond.
Question Author
i was being a little bit cheeky, perhaps he will.
I still haven't the foggiest what you mean by 'Black Box Thingy'. You have posted previously on this matter and I would, if possible' like to try and assist you.

What equipment are you using?. If it's a smart phone or a mobile item then I am Not surprised that you have a problem with AB.

Sorry I have Not answered in accordance with your original request....'On a postcard'. ☺☺☺

i use a laptop. and the black box appears after every successful answer or posting of a thread. it appears any where between 27 seconds and 10 but rarely less.
Thanks emmie for your very prompt reply to me.

One further question....are you using what is considered by lots of Techies to be an awful Browser which has compatibilty problems with AB.. namely Internet Explorer. ?

Your Answer...The black box on my lap top takes up about a smuch space as the View All Categories box- it's about 5 cm x 1.5 cm
Maybe it's the processing speed of your desktop of something to do with shockwave. As an experiment try a different browser and see what happens
Just measured mine (the black box) - it's a bit more than I remembered- 8cm x 1.5 cm
Question Author
its not so much the size, its the fact it stays so long. no one else seems to have the problem
When I first got to see the new site I had to post several answers before I could work out what as it was only on my screen so fleetingly. (I only see it for a fraction of a second). So there's definitely something odd going on if you're seeing it for far longer than I do.

Check that there's nothing hogging nearly all of your laptop's resources:
Right-click on the taskbar at the foot of your screen, select 'Start Task Manager' and click on the performance tab. 'CPU Usage' shouldn't be massive. (Mine is currently moving between about 30% to 40%). The 'Memory' display shouldn't be too big either. (The blue line on mine is about half way up the graph). If either of those figures looks abnormal, let us know.

If you don't find anything unusual in Task Manager, try running Firefox with your add-ons disabled:
Ensure that you've got the Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, etc) visible at the top of your screen. (If it's not there, right-click near to the top and put a tick next to 'Menu Bar'). Then click on Help, followed by 'Restart with Add-ons Disabled'. If the problem disappears you'll know that it's an add-on which is causing your problem. (Restart Firefox as normal, and then disable your add-ons one at a time to find the culprit)

If you still haven't solved the problem reset Firefox:
Click on Tools > Add-ons > Extensions.
Write down the names of any extensions you've got (and wish to keep) as you're about to remove them.
Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information and click on Refresh Firefox.
Return to Tools > Add-ons > Extensions and then search for, and reinstate, the extensions you require.
You should always sit next to the black box on a airplane because if there's a crash they always find it.
