Some of us who use Nexus tablets are experiencing virus problems from something apparently acquired on AB

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/AB-Editors-Blog/Question1450154.html

I'm using Chrome as a browser and I'm not going down the revert to factory settings route. Otherwise, can anyone help getting rid of the virus please?

Many thanks

There is a useful article 'How to Scan and Clean your Android Device from Adware, Virus & Malicious Apps' which also includes instructions for a Nexus 4, located at:-

Seems cleared by Ed atm

belt and braces tambo - just 'cos it seems to have stopped doesn't mean it isn't causing mischief with the tablet behind the scenes
Stopped my foot !
The virus has returned on the tablet even though I ran AVG antivirus app, which said "no threats".

Am on iphone, that seems unimpregnable by AB virus
As I understand it, it's not a virus a scan will detect but an ad that detects you are on a mobile device (I had thought it was android only, so your iphone was news) which hijacks your browser. You only download the virus if you click on it.
malwarebites has no effect either !
No it won't, for the same reason. Until you click on it you don't have any virus nor other malware to detect.
blummin pain in the posterior !

I still have it on my Kindle. I.k ... so far via phone.
O.k ..
Why are you so opposed to reverting to factory settings? There are many advantages to doing so now and again, virus or no virus
Question Author
hc ^^ because factory settings are usually full of the bloatware and carp I spent ages getting rid of first time round and I'm not doing again.
Fairy nuff
It's not a virus, it's a really annoying ad that we're still fighting with.

You don't need to reset your system.
