I believe this site could improve itself by allowing its patrons to give answers a thumbs up or a thumbs down

1) What do you think?

2) Will they do it?

Oh Lynn, Lynn - think of the hurt someone would feel from a 'Thumbs down', could ruin their day.

Lynne.
Far too simplistic, I think. This is a discussion forum, after all.

AB Creche might like it!
Some people would much prefer to use other finger configurations.
I'm up for it. I get thousands of green arrows in the Daily Mail.
Lol @ Stuey's comment. I'd give him a thumbs up!
The suggestion of a Like button has been suggested before, and Ed gave it the thumbs down. This isn't Facebook.
Half of the posters never come back to say thanks ☺☺☺
i've always wondered about "likes" or "thumbs" -

if someone's status says "i'm really poorly", does liking that kinda send the wrong message?
I've seen 'likes' on Facebook when someone has posted re a bereavement - never sure how to take that either.
@SlackAlice......I know what you mean and agree with you. It certainly is frustrating, especially in the Technology section where we both post quite regularly. Lack of feedback from a questioner leaves us Not knowing whose answer solved the problem. It's even more annoying when a number of alternative suggestions have been made and a reply does come back along the lines of... "Thanks all sorted"

Hans.
It could be misunderstood, whether thumbs up or thumbs down. Leave things as they are. I wouldn't do it.
It would save people typing 'lol'

I don't think there should be a thumbs down option.
:-(
I think its a good idea Lynn, as I think a thumbs down is a far better reply than a written rude insult.

Not sure if they would agree though, as they liked my idea of a reply that you last gave in a subscribed Question would come up first instead of having to search for it, but nothing happened.....good luck.
I think it's a bad idea. Most ups and downs would be given to the poster rather than the post.
@Prudie....^^^.. Excellent point.

Hans.
Thumbs Down Prudie :-)
