animated avatar

i just obtained an animated gif and placed it on my avatar file, then activated it.
minutes after, my avatar defaulted to basic. so, i went back and re-introduced this one i'm using.

so my question is this......does this site not accept gifs for avatars?

Someone- bibblebub I think- had one on here once although it wasn't his choice- I think it was one of those randomly allocate ones from Gravatar

Hopefully not. I have had to leave a chat site because everyone has animated avatars and emoticons all over the place. Bloody distracting - gives me a headache.
