It seems that the brackets aren't escaping. |

Seems your magnetic personality is getting in the way Ed ;-) |

Where have all the other answers gone to, room 101?
Do you mean these AOG? http://www.theanswerb.../Question1128030.html |

What I typed:
To [í]emphasise[í] or not to [í] emphasise [í] (in italics) - [í]that is the question.[í] but with a proper lower-case 'i' and this is what I get :-(( To emphasise[i or not to [i] emphasise [i] (in italics) - [i]that is the question.] |
|
The implimentation of this seems very hit and miss.
People on the news are already abandoning it because it does not worl as advertised. |
|
Gromit....You have said it does not worl as advertised.[i However it does [i] Work.] :-)

Sorry Gromit... I now realise what you meant.

Without a preview facility it may prove more annoying and frustrating than it is worth. Uncorrectable typos are bad enough.

A good point O_G.
I have had success and failure with the 'text italics'. Consequently, I am now wondering if, without a preview facility being added to AB, the use of [i] is a bit messy. Perhaps it would be simpler to have a single left sloping oblique (slash) at the beginning and end of text which is being italicised. e.g......\Example\ Unless I am wrong, the left sloping oblique is very rarely used and should not interfere with normal straightforward typing into AB. "Perhaps it would be simpler to have a single left sloping oblique (slash) at the beginning and end of text which is being italicised.
e.g......\Example\ " Well that would bugger me (and everyone else in the tech sections) up when we wanted to post a directory path such as c:\windows\system32 |
|
Thanks Chuck.....Point taken....Forget what I have suggested..
Nevertheless there must be an easier way to italicise. Ron. |
|
I'm sure there's a good reason why the standard HTML tag for italics wasn't used, which is <i> to open and </i> to close.

its all a bit of a faff. just imagine the next bit is in italics or it might not be
